Edinburgh Zoo

The coach will arrive in Edinburgh at around lunchtime Today's destination is the world famous Edinburgh Zoo, a great day out is to be had for people of all ages.

The 82-acre zoo has a dazzling array of animals and creatures great and small, some of which you are unlikely to see anywhere else. As the second most visited paid tourist attraction is Scotland, Edinburgh Zoo has attractions that draw over 600,000 visitors a year.

Most notably, the Zoo is home to the only Giant Panda exhibit in the UK and to two pandas, Tian Tian and Yang Guang, who have helped play a key role in the captive breeding program of the endangered animal. The zoo was also the worlds first zoo to breed penguins in captivity and today has the largest outdoor penguin pool in Europe for visitors to enjoy with unique viewing opportunities. Although worth mentioning is The Budongo Trail, that allows visitors to see chimpanzees in the world's most innovative, interactive chimpanzee enclosure that can house up to 40 chimps. Adding to the uniqueness of the Zoo, it is also home to the only Koalas in the UK, and with the first Koala being born in the UK at the Zoo in 2014, there is even more reason to make your way to the internal viewing area where you can get up close with the Koalas, most likely Alinga who's always the first to greet you and loves to have her photo taken.

These are just some of the main attractions at the zoo that offers its visitors more things to do and see than you could fit into one visit, so we recommend you pre-plan your visit to make sure that you don't miss out on anything.

*Please note that Panda Viewing times need to be booked and are time limited.
